The last-minute costume formula
Choose one base outfit guests already own, one accessory linked to the setting and one character attitude. For example: dark trousers + brass key + guarded; officewear + red lanyard + ambitious; summer outfit + sunglasses + too relaxed. The attitude often does more for the scene than the clothes.

Murder At Mine gives every player a costume suggestion with their private character information. The host chooses the theme, but guests can interpret the suggestion with clothes and accessories they already own.
Decorations and props are optional because the app supplies the case, character details and evidence. A host can add lighting, music and a few visual cues for atmosphere without making physical clues or building a set.
